Outdoor Gym 1-1.jpgIt’s 3pm on a Friday afternoon. It’s been a long few days and the weekend is finally in sight. Then you remember and the horror begins to dawn on you. You’ve signed up to do a spin class at 7:30 tonight. In a moment of madness last week, you and your best friend decided that you were going on a new quest of self-improvement which meant Friday night would be gym night and not gin night. To go or not to go? That’s the question. You’re ill? Working late? What other excuse could you possibly come up with as a valid reason for not wanting to exercise on a Friday night?!

Looking after yourself is an important part of life. We’re all very good in this day and age at putting ourselves second but it’s rare for people to make themselves a priority. We’ve got too much to do, too much work on, too many social events to go to and we feel if we don’t go to the events, or miss a deadline at work that it’s the end of the world.

WMHD.pngThey say the road is a good listener so I’m off to tell it my story…

You may be someone that flies out of bed in the morning and can’t wait to go and get a few miles under your belt, or you may be someone that gets up, decides against the morning run because you must have breakfast first, then gets distracted and the next thing you know its 8pm and you finally drag yourself for a quick run to the shop to buy something for dinner. Either way, you’ll have felt better for getting out and doing something.

Fad diets.jpeg

So many of us are guilty of trying fad diets and ridiculously intense workout sessions to try and lose weight before a holiday or trying to fit back in to our favourite outfit that has become slightly too tight. But how many of us put all the effort in for a few weeks and then go back to our old habits?

Weight loss is more likely to be more effective when at least 150 minutes of exercise is done a week and with just 45 minutes of exercise helping to eliminate 500 calories off your daily diet, it doesn’t take long to start seeing the effects. Combined with a healthy, balanced diet this can equate to an easy few pounds lost every week if done daily.

London transport.jpeg

Just recently, Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, published his draft Transport Strategy which sets out his policies and proposals to reshape transport in London over the next twenty-five years. Transport is an incredibly important issue.  It has the potential to transform the shape London, from the streets Londoners live, work and spend time on, to the tube, rail and bus services they use every day.
